PwC Malaysia's Entry Into TRX Will Boost The International Financial Centre -- Amir Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd’s (PwC Malaysia) entry into Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) as an anchor in a new building that is being developed positions Kuala Lumpur as a premier destination for global businesses.

It also strengthens the 28.32-hectare (70-acre) TRX as an International Financial Centre, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said.

“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is more than just a success for TRX, it is a win for Kuala Lumpur,” Amir Hamzah said in a speech delivered by Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Investment) Datuk Shahrazat Ahmad at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 39-storey office building.

It will be TRX’s 10th office development. Once completed in the second quarter of 2029, PwC will be the anchor.

PwC’s presence in the district is expected to create high-quality job opportunities and enhance regional integration across ASEAN and beyond, Amir Hamzah said.

“Realising Kuala Lumpur’s full potential as a competitive international financial centre demands full alignment and coordinated execution across all arms of government. So we continue to strengthen KL’s centrality and competitiveness,” he said.

Amir Hamzah said over RM8 billion of investments have been realised in TRX, which has over 20,000 knowledge workers.

Global leaders such as HSBC, Prudential, Huawei, Apple and Lendlease have all recognised the value of operating here, which is a clear testament to TRX’s growing global appeal, he said.

As a national project, TRX fits into the government’s mission to reinvigorate Malaysia's economic landscape through the MADANI Economic Framework, he said.

“With a strong network of professionals benefitting from the clustering of key industry players and leading global brands, TRX compellingly offers the best of ASEAN and Asia.

“Let’s use TRX’s mandate as Malaysia’s International Financial Centre to complement Malaysia’s existing and robust pro-business policies, further strengthening our position as one of the best places to do business in the world,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched TRX as the International Financial Centre on Feb 23, 2024.
