KL Convention Centre Set To Showcase 20-year Summit Expertise For 46th ASEAN Summit

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- The selection of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre as the official venue for the 46th ASEAN Summit on May 26-27 reaffirms the venue’s 20-year legacy as Malaysia’s trusted stage for large-scale multilateral engagements.

In a statement today, the convention centre said its robust protocols have ensured zero security breaches for attendees, including world leaders, government officials, diplomats, and governors, despite risks of financial espionage and cyber threats.

“Beyond physical infrastructure, the centre’s value proposition includes institutionalised security protocols developed through close collaboration with senior police officials, traffic authorities, and specialised security personnel.

“This end-to-end operational mastery, combining culinary capabilities, controlled environments, and safety assurance, creates an unmatched proposition for international delegates seeking both efficiency and hospitality,” it said.

The venue has also introduced advanced technological enhancements tailored to the evolving needs of international clients.

“Recent enhancements include state-of-the-art light-emitting diode (LED) displays, next-generation audio-visual systems, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smart room controls.

“Complementing these are enterprise-grade cybersecurity protocols and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-certified sustainable event practices, positioning the centre at the cutting edge of secure, responsible hosting,” it said.

Marking the centre’s 20th anniversary this year, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is the only venue to host multiple ASEAN Summits (in 2005 and 2015), and the legacy includes facilitating over 22,000 events, welcoming 29 million visitors, and generating RM12.6 billion in economic impact since its opening in 2005.
