Bank Pembangunan Appoints Ex-Maybank Islamic Chief Muzaffar Hisham As Group CEO

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) has appointed Datuk Muzaffar Hisham as its new group chief executive officer (CEO), effective immediately.

Muzaffar previously served as the Group CEO at Maybank Islamic Banking before joining BPMB.

He has more than 20 years of experience in regional banking with a proven track record in driving business growth and regionalisation strategies across various sectors, including wholesale and retail banking, investment banking, treasury, asset management and client coverage.

BPMB chairman Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir said they are pleased to welcome Muzaffar, whose proven leadership and deep understanding of the financial services landscape will be instrumental in driving the bank’s strategic direction. 

"We are confident that under his stewardship, BPMB will continue to play a pivotal role in driving Malaysia’s national development agenda and delivering long-term value for our stakeholders," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Muzaffar said it is an honour to join BPMB at this important juncture and looks forward to working with the board, management, and stakeholders to strengthen the bank’s role as a key development financial institution supporting Malaysia’s socio-economic progress and sustainability ambitions.
