KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) -- Over 200 media practitioners from both domestic and international outlets have registered to cover the 12th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (AFMGM) and related meetings here, which begin today.

International Media Centre (IMC) coordinator Zaria Mohd Nasri said that in conjunction with the 12th AFMGM, IMC operations started yesterday to assist media personnel with early preparations, including managing equipment.

She noted that a total of 250 media practitioners are expected to be involved in covering this meeting, both from domestic and international outlets.

"BERNAMA has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing the registration for domestic and international media. The BERNAMA team is committed to ensuring smooth media coverage throughout the event,” she said when contacted by Bernama here today.

According to Zaria, the media can access BERNAMA news about ASEAN through the special microsite www.asean.bernama.com, while photo news can be found on the platform aseanfoto.bernama.com.

Yesterday, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, accompanied by the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, conducted a walkabout to review the preparations and visit the IMC.

They were welcomed by BERNAMA Editor in Chief, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.

During the visit, Amir Hamzah was briefed on IMC's daily operations by Arul Rajoo and took the opportunity to engage with local and foreign media practitioners.

Around 300 delegates, including ASEAN finance ministers, central bank governors, officials from international financial institutions, and representatives from the private sector, are attending the AFMGM at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to discuss ways to advance the region financially.
