Gas Malaysia Up 0.23 Pct In Late Morning

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- The share price of Gas Malaysia Bhd was marginally higher late morning today following the Putra Heights gas pipeline inferno on Tuesday.

As of 11.52 am, Gas Malaysia added one sen, or 0.23 per cent, to RM4.32, with 726,400 shares changing hands. Trading in Gas Malaysia securities was halted earlier for an hour from 9 am.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company informed that its gas pipeline network and gas facilities remained secured, with all necessary precautions implemented.

Gas Malaysia said it has been informed by its supplier that certain gas facilities in the affected area are temporarily closed, and it is anticipated that curtailment of gas supply to certain areas within the Klang Valley region would be implemented and potentially impact its customers.

It said the extent of the impact is still being assessed and that it is in constant communication with relevant shippers and its direct customers.
