Sarawak Refining Its Investment And Entrepreneurship Policies -- Awang Tengah

KUCHING, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Sarawak’s Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment of Sarawak (Mintred) is finetuning and enhancing the state’s investment and entrepreneurship policies.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also Mintred Minister, said the process of refining the Sarawak Investment Policy and Sarawak Entrepreneurship Policy are expected to be completed this year and they will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.

One of the main aspects being looked at is identifying strategic sectors that need to be strengthened, such as in terms of technology.

“We want to ensure that every investment made in Sarawak not only prioritises state-of-the-art technologies but also aligns with our goals to preserve the environment.

“These investments should also bring direct benefits to the people of Sarawak, empowering economic development through investments from both domestic and foreign sources,” he told reporters after giving his address at the ministry's majlis amanat here today.

Awang Tengah said that the Sarawak Entrepreneurship Policy would also be refined to strengthen the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are the backbone of the state's economy.

“This sector offers significant employment opportunities, and we need to strengthen it by fostering cooperation with various sectors. The main aim is to improve the overall ecosystem.

“The world has changed, and entrepreneurs need to adapt to these changes. They need to adjust their operations and leverage the digital infrastructure to facilitate the marketing of their products and services, thus opening opportunities for promotion to a broader market,” he said.
