Affin Bank Branches In Sarawak To Increase To 14 By July

KUCHING, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- Affin Bank Bhd will increase the number of its branches in Sarawak to 14 by July this year as part of its commitment to expanding its services and strengthening its presence in the state.

Affin group president and chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah Wan Ali said the bank, which currently operates eight branches across Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, will set up six additional branches at key locations in Sarawak.

“Our commitment is to serve all segments -- from consumer to corporate and SMEs (small and medium enterprises) -- with our award-winning financial services,” he said in his speech at the bank’s Sarawak Chinese New Year dinner on Monday, which was attended by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the bank is also eyeing a 12 per cent growth in its loans for Sarawak this year, following a 10 per cent increase in 2024 that brought the total loans to RM3.2 billion.

Affin also plans to host its first Affin Corporate Day on Feb 28 here in its commitment to foster economic growth and strategic partnerships in the state.

“This event will serve as a platform to showcase our comprehensive financing and investment solutions, tailored to empower Sarawak’s businesses, investors, and communities,” he added.

The Sarawak government is currently the single largest shareholder in Affin Bank with a 31.25 per cent stake. This came about after it secured an additional 26 per cent equity interest by signing a sale and purchase agreement with the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) and Boustead Holdings Bhd on Sept 27 last year.
