Thailand-Malaysia Business Matching Event Set To Generate 120 Mln Baht In Trade

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- The Thailand-Malaysia Industrial Products Business Matching event held from Feb 10 to 12, 2025 at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur is expected to generate a trade value of 120 million Baht (100 Baht=RM13.18).

Hosted by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, the event highlighted key sectors such as machinery, automotive, electronics, medical supplies, and building materials.

Thailand’s trade representative Umes Pandey leads the three-day business matching event, accompanied by Minister Counsellor (Commercial) and director of DITP Malaysia, Worawan Wanwil.

Umes’s trade mission is backed by Thailand’s Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra who has set an ambitious goal of achieving US$30 billion in bilateral trade between Thailand and Malaysia by 2027.

Worawan emphasised that the business matching event serves as a vital platform for Thai and Malaysian businesses to explore potential partnerships and exchange knowledge in areas critical to industrial growth.

“By facilitating high-level discussions and aligning business goals with governmental strategies, we are building a robust foundation for continued growth and collaboration.

“This event will be a turning point in boosting Thailand’s exports to Malaysia and generating significant new opportunities for Thai businesses,” he said in a statement today.

The three-day business matching event will facilitate 70 pre-scheduled pairings and more than 30 walk-in business matching that show interest during Feb 10, creating over 100  potential opportunities between the two countries.

The business matching event will also enable delegates to explore strategic partnerships in heavy industries, further strengthening Thailand’s role in the ASEAN supply chain.

By bringing together business and government leaders, the event is poised to transform trade relationships and pave the way for a new era of growth for both nations.

Delegates will visit Sunway Multicare Pharmacy, Ecolife Medicare at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and HomePro Malaysia, as well as explore Jalan Ipoh and Segambut’s automotive hubs.
