Business Schools Gear Up For GenAI Revolution - AACSB Survey 

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- Business school deans are generally more optimistic about the potential of generative AI (GenAI), while faculty tend to be more cautious, citing concerns about ethical implications and their institution’s readiness, according to AACSB International (AACSB)’s new report.

Despite these differences, both groups agree on the importance of integrating GenAI into teaching, research, and governance.

The report, titled GenAI Adoption in Business Schools: Deans and Faculty Respond, explores how these groups are navigating the opportunities and challenges of GenAI, focusing on its practical use in academic settings.

It offers valuable insights into global trends and strategic priorities for adopting GenAI in business schools, according to a statement.

The surveys, conducted separately among faculty and deans, reveal both shared and contrasting viewpoints, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to drive GenAI adoption.

The report found that most respondents consider themselves novice or intermediate users of GenAI. Faculty primarily use GenAI for content creation and summarisation in teaching but are more hesitant about applying it to research tasks like data analysis due to concerns over data integrity.

Issues such as plagiarism, data privacy, and academic integrity are identified as major barriers to broader adoption. While nearly half of deans report having AI policies in place, many institutions lack clear guidance, highlighting a need for stronger governance frameworks.

Both faculty and deans acknowledge GenAI’s role in enhancing creativity and problem-solving but also recognise its risks to critical thinking. Striking a balance between AI integration and traditional pedagogy remains a key priority.

AACSB stresses the importance of fostering collaboration among educators, administrators, and institutional leaders to overcome challenges and effectively harness GenAI's potential.

The organisation is committed to supporting business schools with actionable insights to navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
