KPMG Malaysia Appoints Foong Mun Kong As Managing Partner

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 2 (Bernama) -- KPMG Malaysia has appointed Foong Mun Kong as managing partner effective Jan 1, 2025.

In a statement today, KPMG said he succeeds Datuk Johan Idris who is now non-executive chairman and will provide strategic counsel to support the firm’s continued growth.

Foong’s leadership would be bolstered by the firm’s executive committee and key function leaders.

"It is an honour to lead KPMG in Malaysia alongside this exceptional team of leaders. Together, we have the building blocks in place to uphold the quality, integrity, and trust that define us and shape a future-ready KPMG, to deliver long-term value and positive impact to the clients and communities we serve," Foong said.

He has over 30 years of experience in audit and assurance, having previously served as the firm’s head of audit. He is also Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) vice-president; a Malaysian Institute of Accountants council member, and a member of the MFRS Application and Implementation Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB).

The statement said the transition heralds a new chapter for KPMG in Malaysia.
