Bursa Malaysia Mixed At Mid-Afternoon, CI Down 0.13 Pct

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia was traded mixed at mid-afternoon, with the key index declining by 0.13 per cent.

In contrast, the broader market showed positive movement, as profit-taking occurred in many major financial services heavyweight counters.

At 3.01 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) decreased by 2.24 points or 0.13 per cent to 1,613.40 from Thursday’s close of 1,615.64. 

The index opened 0.21 of-a-point higher at 1,615.85.

Market breadth was, however, positive, with gainers leading losers 478 to 470, while 492 counters were unchanged, 1,036 untraded and 12 suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.17 billion units, valued at RM1.47 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank, CIMB and IHH fell two sen each to RM10.20, RM8.17 and RM7.31, respectively, while Tenaga Nasional deducted eight sen to RM13.52, and Public Bank was flat at RM4.57.

Of the active stocks, Supermax gained 7.5 sen to RM1.06, and Top Glove and WCT went up five sen each to RM1.30 and 94 sen, respectively.

YNH Property shed 10 sen to 60.5 sen and Zen Tech was flat at one sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index bagged 5.72 points to 12,333.92 and the FBMT 100 Index gained 2.63 points to 12,016.91.

However, the FBM 70 Index jumped 74.62 points to 18,340.16. 

The FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 4.73 points to 12,299.36, but the FBM ACE Index increased 26.96 points to 5,271.72.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index slid 18.84 points to 19,174.18, the Plantation Index weakened 25.51 points to 7,752.74, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched up 0.01 of-a-point to 175.33 and the Energy Index added 6.38 points to 826.94.
