TOMY Company, FC Barcelona Team Up To Launch Limited Edition BEYBLADE X In Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Tokyo-based TOMY Company Ltd announced a collaboration with legendary European multi-sports club, FC Barcelona, to release two FC Barcelona versions of BEYBLADE X, a modern breed of "bei-goma" (traditional Japanese spinning top), in 10 Asian countries and regions early next year.

The collaboration, timed to celebrate both FC Barcelona's 125th anniversary and BEYBLADE's 25th, will feature the BEYBLADE X "UX-00 STARTER DRANBUSTER 1-60A METAL COAT: BLUE FC BARCELONA Ver." and BEYBLADE X "UX-00 BEY KICK OFF SET FC BARCELONA Ver.".

These two products will be available on Jan 25, 2025, in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan region, Hong Kong SAR, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

In a statement, TOMY Company said the products will debut in Japan before gradually rolling out to the other nine Asian countries and regions.

Prior to their release, a limited number of units of these two products will be sold at the Asia Championship 2024 on Dec 1 in Tokyo where the best Blader will be crowned. On that day, the exclusive BEYBLADE X versions will be sold only at the Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores in Ikebukuro Sunshine City commercial complex.

Both brands are embracing this collaboration to tap into the excitement of sports and gaming, with the new BEYBLADE X products set to enhance the evolving "Gear Sports" experience.

FC Barcelona General Manager of Barca Licensing and Merchandising (BLM), Josep Maria Meseguer said collaborations with like-minded brands such as TOMY allow the club to connect with fans worldwide, expanding its presence in key markets like Japan and the Asia Pacific market.

In addition to the physical product launch, "BEYBLADE X official experience" on the Roblox metaverse platform has recently been upgraded to "BEYBLADE CITY on Roblox", an online battle game that has reached over 7.43 million visits worldwide, with 90 percent of users coming from outside Japan.

This digital engagement underscores the growing international appeal of both BEYBLADE and FC Barcelona.
