COVID : 44-year old PR latest death reported in Singapore

SINGAPORE, June 22  -- A 44-year old man is the latest COVID-19 fatality reported in Singapore, thus taking the cumulative number of fatalities to 35.

In its full data released late last night, the republic’s Ministry of Health said the man was admitted to Alexandra Hospital on May 25, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on the next day.

Labelled as Case 63752, the Singapore Permanent Resident passed away on June 20.

“He had not been vaccinated against COVID-19, and had a history of diabetes mellitus,” it added.

Singapore reported its 34th COVID-19 fatality on June 8.

Meanwhile, three Malaysians were among the 16 new cases reported in Singapore yesterday with one linked to 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster.

The first case of the cluster which currently has 78 confirmed cases involved a 74 year-old Singaporean man who works at a sundry store at 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre.

He was confirmed with COVID-19 infection on June 9.

Thus far, the total caseload of COVID-19 here stood at 62,430 with 38 COVID-19 open clusters.
