KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Federal Territories Minister is hoping for increased development allocation for Labuan in Budget 2019 which will be tabled by Finance MInister Lim Guan Eng this Friday.
He said this allocation was necessary to develop various industries in the federal territory, including tourism, fishery and halal hub.
“I hope there will be increased allocation for Labuan because compared to Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, Labuan gets less development efforts when it is rich in various industries,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
Khalid said the Budget 2019, the first to be tabled by the Pakatan Harapan government, would hopefully include allocation to improve transportation in Kuala Lumpur by providing more public transport access to work areas, in order to resolve the problem of traffic congestion.
Separately, replying to allegations of abuse of power after the Amanah party held an event at the City Hall premises yesterday, Khalid who is also the party’s communications director said Federal Territory Amanah had rented the hall, and it was not free-of-charge.
“City Hall has many halls to be rented out. Yesterday, Amanah Federal Territory rented the hall to launch its new office which was small, we do not have a big hall, and so we had to rent one elsewhere.
“We rented it, we did not use it free-of-charge. That is UMNO’s culture, not ours. We use government property, but we pay for it, as should be the case,” he said when replying to the allegations made by former Federal Territory UMNO Youth head Datuk Seri Mohd Razlan Rafii.
In a posting on Twitter, Mohd Razlan urged the authorities including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate abuse of power by the Pakatan Harapan government in connection with the use of the hall.
