KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the paperless initiative in the civil service has successfully saved 116,405 reams of paper, resulting in a cost savings of RM1.99 million.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said this achievement was reported during the Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council (MED4IR) meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.
"The focus today was on the MyDigital ID and MyGov initiatives, as well as expanding digital access across the country's higher education institutions. The meeting also agreed on efforts to develop more comprehensive digital talent through the MyMAHIR National AI Council for Industry," he said in a Facebook post today.
Shamsul Azri, who is also the Government Cluster Chairman, said Malaysia aims to emerge as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Nation by 2030 through the implementation of Malaysia Digital 2030, which was launched by the Prime Minister today.
On February 7, Shamsul Azri was reported as saying that the civil service would begin implementing a paperless approach for simple transactions starting February 9, in line with efforts to accelerate digitalisation within the government administration.
