GM Klang Boosts Community Engagement Through Commercial Spaces

SHAH ALAM, June 29 (Bernama) -- GM Klang has seen growing demand for its community and event spaces, with venues such as Dataran GM Klang, Block B Podium and Atrium increasingly becoming preferred venues for public activities and programmes.

GM Klang Brand Communications senior manager Norsuhaida Othman said the positive response towards the use of these spaces reflects the continued appeal of physical commercial spaces when complemented by suitable content and experiences.

She said that since the launch of Dataran GM Klang last November, the area, which is approximately half the size of a football field, has hosted a range of community activities and weekend programmes.

“Commercial spaces today cannot rely solely on the function of buying and selling. Visitors want experiences, wholesalers seek greater exposure, while brands and organisers need spaces that allow them to connect directly with the community.

“This is why the increasing demand for spaces such as Dataran GM Klang, the Block B Podium and Atrium is a positive development, reflecting GM Klang’s growing acceptance as a lively, flexible and community-driven activation platform,” she said.

Norsuhaida said GM Klang remains open to collaborations with event organisers, communities, local brands, educational institutions, associations and business partners interested in organising quality programmes for the public.

Among the activities expected to further enliven GM Klang are food festivals, pop-up booths, promotional campaigns, community programmes and themed celebrations, including Merdeka Eve and New Year events.

She said GM Klang is also planning several large-scale attractions, including the "Persembahan Projection Mapping Berskala Besar Eksklusif 2026", as part of efforts to enhance visitor experience and make physical commercial spaces more interactive and relevant in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Selangor Year 2026.

Norsuhaida added that the activation of commercial spaces at GM Klang is not merely aimed at filling the events calendar, but is part of a broader effort to create a more vibrant, inclusive and impactful experience for visitors and collaboration partners.

“We want every programme held at GM Klang to bring value to all parties. Visitors can enjoy new experiences, wholesalers benefit from increased foot traffic, while organisers have a suitable space to engage directly with the community.

“Through this approach, GM Klang will continue to be strengthened as an active, open and community-oriented commercial destination, particularly in Klang and its surrounding areas,” she added.
