KUANTAN, June 28 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has called upon more higher education institutions (IPT), particularly those in Pahang, to come forward and offer scholarships to students from Tioman Island to pursue higher education.

Al-Sultan Abdullah decreed that the initiative introduced by the Institut Jantung Negara University College (IJNUC) through the awarding of scholarships to two outstanding students from Tioman Island should serve as an example for other universities in efforts to produce more quality human capital from rural and island areas.

"Any university from Pahang should also come forward to help our children on Tioman Island. Even though they are far from the mainland, they are still our children who must be given the opportunity to further their studies," His Royal Highness decreed via a post on the Pahang Sultanate Facebook page today.

According to the post, the Sultan of Pahang consented to grace and perform the presentation at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) Scholarship Presentation Ceremony to the two outstanding Tioman Island students who will be pursuing their studies at IJNUC.

At the same time, His Royal Highness also expressed pride over the success of the two scholarship recipients, who were selected based on their respective academic excellence and merit.

Al-Sultan Abdullah decreed that both students should fully capitalise on the opportunity given by focusing entirely on their studies and making success their ultimate goal.

"Failure is not an option. Do not think about failure. Ensure that you succeed within this study period because you will become the benchmark for other youths on Tioman Island," His Royal Highness decreed.

His Royal Highness also advised both students to maintain discipline, manage their time well, and always remain focused on their studies throughout their time in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the post, the Sultan of Pahang also recorded his appreciation to IJN, which is not only excellent in the medical field but also consistently supports various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes in Pahang.

“IJN's continuous commitment to go out on the ground to help the community, including those in rural areas, proves the institution's earnestness in contributing to the well-being of the people of this state,” decreed His Royal Highness.

Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed confidence in IJN’s excellence as one of the best medical institutions in the Asian region, which is also recognised internationally for its expertise and excellence in cardiac treatment.

"I deeply appreciate the cooperation of IJN. They not only look after my health, but every year they come forward together with the state government to implement various CSR programmes for the benefit of the people, including in remote areas such as Kampung Bantal. This dedication is very meaningful to me, the government, and all the people of Pahang," His Royal Highness decreed.
