US$200 Mln IMF-Supported Fund To Be Created To Rebuild Venezuela After Quake - Rodriguez

CARACAS, June 25 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez said on Thursday that a fund would be created to rebuild the country after the earthquake, with the participation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and US$200 million allocated, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

I want to announce the creation of an initial US$200 million fund using the resources we have at the IMF to rebuild the infrastructure," Rodriguez said, as broadcast by the VTV television channel.

Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday. According to the United States Geological Survey, the first measured magnitude 7.2 and the second 7.5. The quakes occurred 16 kilometres from Moron and 24 kilometres from San Felipe. A RIA Novosti correspondent reported damage and fatalities in Caracas.
