KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat today will deliberate on the implementation of the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), the impact of the global energy crisis, and Malaysia’s foreign policy approach towards Myanmar based on developments under the Five-Point Consensus (5PC), among other things.
According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, Rodziah Ismail (PH-Ampang) will ask the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation about the implementation status and number of industry participants in the CRESS during Minister’s Question Time.
She also wants to know the findings of the System Access Charge (SAC) rate review and its implications on Malaysia’s aspiration to be a regional data centre hub, including operating costs for data centres, the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman (PN-Bachok) will ask the Minister of Economy to outline the mitigation steps implemented by the National Economic Action Council in response to rising job losses and business contractions amid the energy crisis and global economic uncertainty, as well as the results achieved to date.
Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN-Simpang Renggam) will pose a question to the Finance Minister on the rationale for standardising fuel subsidy targeting, including the use of MyKad for diesel, and whether the 200-litre entitlement for both fuels is adequate for consumers.
Meanwhile, at the question-and-answer session, William Leong Jee Keen (PH-Selayang) will question the Foreign Minister on Malaysia’s current foreign policy position regarding the Myanmar government, and how far progress under the 5PC is reflected in policy formulation.
Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH-Gombak) will also raise a question with the Digital Minister on measures to align state-level initiatives, such as the Selangor Dark Fiber Network, to ensure Malaysia’s data sovereignty and protect national security and interests.
He will also seek clarification on whether data sovereignty is factored into Malaysia’s aspiration to become an AI-ready nation by 2030.
Datuk Idris Ahmad (PN-Bagan Serai) will request clarification from the Prime Minister on the assessment of the effectiveness of the Islamic Education curriculum in student development, as well as coordination between the Federal Government and state Islamic Religious Councils to ensure high standards of Islamic Education across the country.
Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Warisan-Kota Belud) will call on the Prime Minister to clarify the current progress of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) implementation, and the latest timeline for raising the number of parliamentary seats in Sabah and Sarawak to 35 per cent of the total seats nationwide.
The Dewan Rakyat session will continue with a briefing by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman on the report on increases in health insurance premiums, private hospital charges, and their impact on public health, under the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, and Bank Negara Malaysia.
The Dewan Rakyat will subsequently continue debating the Prisons (Amendment) Bill 2026.
The second meeting of the fifth session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to sit for 16 days, from Monday (June 22) to July 16.
