TSA Uses Ranch Dressing To Remind World Cup Visitors Of Carry-On Liquid Limits

WASHINGTON, June 20 (Bernama-dpa) -- World Cup visitors are being warned not to take the popular ranch sauce on to flights in their carry-on luggage as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) posted some light-hearted reminders on liquid limits, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

"If you're visiting for a very large sporting event and you happen to discover RANCH while you are here, please pack it in your CHECKED BAG on the way home," the TSA said on Instagram.

Invented in the 1950s in California, ranch is a sauce or dressing typically made from a base of mayonnaise and buttermilk and seasoned with garlic, onion plus herbs such as dill, parsley, and chives. 

The condiment is widely popular in the US and sold in containers which exceed the 100 millilitre allowance per liquid item for carry-on luggage.

The TSA used ranch dressing as a humorous reminder in a campaign that also featured posts saying: "OK, please avoid chugging your ranch outside security -- the airlines will check it for you" and "Days since last airport ranch incident: 0".

It said: "If you’re travelling within the US, make sure to keep your carry-on sauces to 3.4oz (100ml) or less and place any larger containers in your checked bags."

One of the manufacturers, Kraft, has chimed in and pledged to come up with a TSA-conform container.

Kraft said the accompanying photo was generated using artificial intelligence, but added that "we’re working on the real thing".
