BANGI, June 18 (Bernama) -- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) maintained its position among the top 150 universities worldwide, ranking 130th in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

UKM said in a statement today that, despite a slight decline from last year, the university remains in the top 10 per cent globally among the 1,504 institutions listed.

The ranking also places UKM in the top two per cent out of 8,808 institutions evaluated worldwide.

"In the latest rankings, UKM improved by 81 spots in the Citations per Faculty indicator, 38 spots in International Research Network, 35 spots in Sustainability, and 16 spots in the International Students indicator," it said.

UKM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Sufian Jusoh said the global ranking reflects intense international competition and serves as an important benchmark for evaluating performance and identifying areas for improvement.

"At the same time, the university's strength must be evaluated by educational quality, research impact, and contribution to society.

"We will continue to focus on all these aspects in our efforts to elevate the overall performance of the university," he said in the same statement.

Sufian said the achievement results from the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the entire UKM community, who constantly strive for excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and service.

"Thank you to the entire UKM community for their contributions that have elevated the university's name onto the international stage. May this success serve as a catalyst to continue achieving even more outstanding performance in the future," he added.
