JOHOR BAHRU, June 18 (Bernama) -- The Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) is not just an economic development plan; it is also a key enabler of the Maju Johor 2030 agenda, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said the plan aims to ensure that people across the state directly feel the benefits of economic growth.

Onn Hafiz said JETP was developed on the principle that economic growth is not the ultimate goal, but rather shared prosperity for all Johoreans.

“JETP is not a standalone agenda. Rather, it provides the foundation to ensure every aspiration of Maju Johor can be realised through sustainable, inclusive and high-impact economic growth,” he said while officiating the launch of JETP here today.

Johor Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources chairman Lee Ting Han was also present at the ceremony.

JETP is outlined with three main objectives, namely strengthening Johor’s position as the country's main economic hub, attracting more high-quality investments, and creating new job opportunities that offer higher incomes for the people.

He said JETP will support the implementation of the six main pillars of Maju Johor 2030, namely government governance, economic development, social safety nets, basic facilities and needs, security and sustainability, and youth development.

He said the eight priority industries that will be the main drivers of Johor's economic growth include the chemical and petrochemical sector, health and pharmaceuticals, energy, electrical and electronics (E&E), aerospace, logistics, tourism, and agriculture.

Onn Hafiz said that to realise this vision, the state’s progress cannot be concentrated solely in the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) but should extend throughout Johor.

“No district will be left behind. No community will be marginalised because every district has its own uniqueness, strengths, and potential.

“The goal is to ensure that all Johoreans can learn, work, do business and build a future in their state,” he said.
