PUTRAJAYA, June 17 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) is targeting more than 50,000 visitors for the Melaka Edition of the Karnival Hebatkan Peniagaan Malaysia (Make Malaysian Business Great Carnival) (KHPM), to be held at the Morten Walk from June 19 to 21.
In a statement today, KUSKOP said the carnival's theme, “Jom Singgah SDSI” (One District One Industry), reflects its role as a key platform for strengthening entrepreneurship, expanding market access and creating networking opportunities for local businesses.
The three-day event will feature a range of programmes aimed at benefiting the public, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives.
KUSKOP said a business matching session organised by SME Corp Malaysia is expected to generate up to RM1 million in potential deals, with seven leading retail and wholesale companies having confirmed participation. The sessions will run daily from 10 am to 5 pm throughout the carnival.
Among the main attractions is the KUSKOP MADANI Sale, offering 20 per cent discounts on 60 essential household items, including rice, flour, chicken, meat, eggs and cooking oil.
“A special happy hour promotion on June 21 will see selected essentials sold at up to 30 per cent below market prices. The programme is expected to generate RM135,000 in sales over the three days,” the statement read.
Nine agencies under KUSKOP will also operate entrepreneurship consultation counters, providing information and assistance on financing, grants, training and capacity-building programmes.
The SDSI initiative will be another key focus, showcasing products and services from local entrepreneurs to residents and tourists.
KUSKOP said the carnival is expected to boost Melaka's economy through increased business activity and demand for supporting sectors such as hospitality, food and beverage, and transportation services.
Other activities include the KUSKOP Halal Success Programme, celebrity entrepreneur talks, Morten Berselawat, e-sports competitions, outdoor film screenings, batik-making demonstrations, community Zumba sessions, decorated trishaw rides, an XPDC concert, a treasure hunt, and automotive and electric vehicle exhibitions.
