KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 (Bernama) -- Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has apologised for a technical disruption on the RTMKlik platform during the live broadcast of the first half of the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between France and Senegal at 3 am today.

Director-General of Broadcasting Ashwad Ismail said the disruption was caused by an unforeseen technical issue that resulted in some users experiencing difficulties accessing the live stream smoothly via RTMKlik.

However, he said RTM’s technical team, together with its technology provider, had taken immediate action to restore the service.

“RTM fully understands the disappointment of football fans who were looking forward to the match. We greatly appreciate the patience, support and feedback provided throughout the disruption period,” he said in a statement.

As the official broadcaster of the world’s most prestigious tournament, Ashwad said RTM remains committed to ensuring the best viewing experience for all Malaysians, including implementing continuous enhancements to its infrastructure and digital broadcasting systems to reduce the risk of recurring technical disruptions.

“RTM once again apologises for any inconvenience caused and will continue to ensure smooth broadcast delivery of all 104 FIFA World Cup 2026 matches (94 live and 10 delayed broadcasts) so that Malaysians can enjoy them with better quality and reliability,” he said.
