ARAU, June 16 (Bernama) -- Islamic education must be further strengthened to produce a balanced generation in terms of intellect, spirituality and morality in today’s increasingly challenging world, Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail said.

His Royal Highness expressed confidence that quality human capital should be developed on the basis of knowledge, decorum, and authentic Islamic values.

“I urge all segments of society to join hands in supporting the development of Islamic education for the sake of our children’s future and the prosperity of this beloved state,” Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said.

The Perlis Ruler said this when officiating Dewan Filantropi Islam Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Perlis (MAIPs) Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail at Al-Madrasah Ad-Diniah Al-Islamiah (MADI) here today.

Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said that a state's progress is not measured solely by infrastructure and economic development, but also by the strength of knowledge, the integrity of morals, and the unity of its people.

“I hope that MADI will continue to be a centre of excellence in knowledge and a platform for uniting the community in producing a young generation that is devoted to religion, nation and homeland,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Raja of Perlis said the official opening of the new hall is not simply a sign of physical development, but also a reflection of the commitment of all parties in providing a more conducive and higher-quality educational environment for the MADI community.

“I hope this facility will be fully utilised for the implementation of educational programmes, human development and community activities that strengthen unity and help further promote the Islamic faith in Perlis,” the Ruler said.

At the opening ceremony, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also consented to officiate the symbolic presentation of a RM6,203,500 allocation from MAIPs to Islamic educational institutions in Perlis for this year.
