Selangor To Suspend Trans, Compress Hiking Applications From July 1

SHAH ALAM, June 12 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Forestry Department (JPNS) will temporarily suspend applications for trans hiking and compress hiking activities at all Permanent Reserved Forests (HSK) in the state effective July 1, citing safety concerns.

According to a notice issued by the Selangor Forestry Director, any party found violating the directive may be charged under Section 47 of the National Forestry Act 1984 (Adoption) Enactment 1985.

Upon conviction, offenders may be fined up to RM30,000, jailed for up to five years, or both.

The notice, however, did not specify how long the temporary suspension would remain in force.
