KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- Police are investigating allegations of abuse of power and corruption involving personnel at a police station in Wangsa Maju and have recorded statements from those concerned.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the investigation is being conducted by the Integrity and Standards Compliance Division of the Wangsa Maju police headquarters.

“At this stage, investigations are ongoing to determine whether the allegations are based on facts or merely accusations,” he told a press conference after launching the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Awareness Advocacy Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Alam Damai here today.

The investigation follows the circulation of screenshots on social media alleging that a Wangsa Maju police station chief and several personnel were involved in abuse of power and corruption.

Fadil said the officers and personnel under investigation are continuing with their duties while the probe is underway.

Meanwhile, commenting on the “Himpunan Gegar TikTok” gathering organised by businessman Albert Tei, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow at TikTok headquarters in Sunway Velocity, Fadil said police had received notification from the organiser.

He said police had met with the organiser and would ensure the safety of all parties involved.

“We will make safety our priority, and if there is any violence or breach of the law, police will take appropriate action,” he said.

In a Facebook post, Albert Tei, whose full name is , said the peaceful gathering would be held at 10 am at TikTok headquarters in Sunway Velocity.

On the Traffic Awareness Advocacy Programme, Fadil said it is an initiative by Kuala Lumpur police in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Education Department and the Kuala Lumpur chapter of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).

He said the programme is being conducted at all secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya to raise awareness and improve students’ understanding of the importance of complying with and respecting the law, including traffic regulations, as a foundation for good discipline and character.
