KUALA KRAI, June 10 (Bernama) -- Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) has allocated RM50,000 to upgrade water-related facilities, including the installation of water-saving devices and the construction of the PAAB Sustainability Garden at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Kuala Krai.

Its Chairman, Datuk Seri Jaseni Maidinsa, said that the implementation of this Santuni MADANI corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme reflects the company's continuous commitment to supporting efforts to foster a society that is more aware of the importance of water resource management, as well as the prudent and sustainable use of clean water.

"Water is a highly valuable basic resource in daily life. However, many do not realise the complex process required to convert raw water from dams, rivers, or lakes into clean water that is safe for consumption according to Ministry of Health standards.

This initiative is expected to benefit 590 students and 86 staff members of MRSM Kuala Krai, who use the water supply 24 hours a day," he said during his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the PAAB Santuni MADANI Programme at MRSM Kuala Krai here today.

Also in attendance were PAAB Chief Executive Officer Zulkiflee Omar, Kelantan MARA Director Zahrail Affenday Mohamed, and MRSM Kuala Krai Principal Ismail Deraman.

Elaborating further, Jaseni said that through this program, PAAB is not only improving the physical water-related facilities at the school but is also working to educate and cultivate awareness among the younger generation to better appreciate every drop of water used.

He noted that water-saving habits need to be nurtured from a young age and during school years so that students can become agents of change within their respective communities.

"As part of these educational efforts, PAAB has also developed the PAAB Sustainability Garden, which features informational elements regarding water sources, the water treatment process, and the importance of environmental conservation.

“This facility was created as an interactive learning platform to help students understand the water supply process from natural sources up until it becomes clean water piped into homes and consumer premises," he said.

During the event, Jaseni also officially opened the PAAB Sustainability Garden, which will serve as an environmental education and awareness platform for the school community, particularly for students wishing to learn more about the water treatment process.

PAAB is a wholly-owned company of the Minister of Finance Incorporated, established in 2006 under the Water Services Industry Act 2006 to assist the Federal Government in realising the National Water Services Industry Restructuring Plan at competitive financing rates.
