MADINAH, June 9 (Bernama-SPA) -- Markets across Madinah are witnessing brisk commercial activity during the post-Haj season as pilgrims shop for souvenirs and gifts before returning to their home countries after visiting the Prophet's Mosque, historical landmarks and major mosques in the city.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that pilgrims' purchases range from gold, ready-made garments, prayer rugs and prayer beads to a variety of local products that reflect Madinah's identity.

Markets and retail outlets have seen growing demand, contributing to increased commercial activity during this period.

Dates remain among the most sought-after items during pilgrims' stay in Madinah. Ajwa and Safawi varieties top the list of the most in-demand products, alongside other date varieties.

Fresh dates have also attracted notable demand this year, coinciding with the harvest season during the Haj period.

SPA documented scenes of shopping activity in Madinah's markets, which continue to experience growing commercial momentum as pilgrims arrive in the city after completing their Haj rituals.
