KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) — After nearly 18 years without performing in Malaysia and Singapore, Indonesian band Peterpan is set to return and reconnect with fans through The Journey Continues: Peterpan concert, scheduled to take place in both countries next month.

The Journey Continues: Peterpan, Semua Tentang Kita will be held at the The Star Theatre in Singapore on July 3 before continuing at the Idea Live Arena on July 11.

Concert organiser and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aloka, Budi Aloka, said the idea for the concert came after witnessing the overwhelming response to Peterpan's performance in Bandung last year, proving that the band's songs continue to resonate with fans despite nearly two decades having passed.

"We see that Peterpan's works are still being listened to, enjoyed and felt by millions of people to this day.

"So we want to celebrate once again the songs that have become part of many listeners' life journeys, while also introducing them to a new generation," he said during an international press conference broadcast live from Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore recently.

Budi said the concert will feature approximately 21 songs from Peterpan's first three albums, including several tracks that propelled the band to fame in Indonesia and across the region.

To add a fresh dimension to the show, he said several singers from Malaysia and Indonesia have been selected to perform based on their compatibility with Peterpan's music.

The concert will reunite original Peterpan members Reza, Loekman, Andika and Indra, who are known for hit songs such as Mimpi Yang Sempurna, Semua Tentang Kita, Ada Apa Denganmu, Ku Katakan Dengan Indah, Mungkin Nanti and Bintang di Surga.

Guest performers include Marcello Tahitoe, Tantri Syalindri, Rony Parulian, Arda Hatna and Charly Van Houten, as well as popular Malaysian singer Hael Husaini.

Meanwhile, co-organiser and Director of Black Sky Enterprise, Thata Joyce Sigar, said the absence of Peterpan's lead vocalist, Ariel, is due to the singer still being on an extended break from band-related activities.

"As of now, our friend Ariel is still on hiatus. He has just completed his latest film, Dilan: ITB 1997. He is not with Peterpan, he is not with Noah, and is currently taking a break from band activities," she said.

Thata said Peterpan's return also provides an opportunity for the band members to become active in the music industry again while introducing their work to a new generation.

"This also means Ariel is giving opportunities to the generations after him and his Peterpan colleagues to return to the world of music and entertainment with the uniqueness of their music, their acoustic sound and lyrics that are simple yet remain deeply embedded in people's hearts," she said.

Meanwhile, Hael Husaini said he was honoured to be given the opportunity to take part in the concert and regarded it as a privilege to perform Peterpan's songs, which have been an important part of many music fans' lives across the region.

"It's beyond being interested — it's something I have always wanted to do. I grew up with their songs. To share the stage and perform works that became a regional phenomenon is a truly meaningful experience," he said.

Tickets for the Singapore concert are now available through SISTIC, while tickets for the Malaysian concert can be purchased via Ticket2U and Fantopia.
