MOSCOW, June 2 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Foreign companies will invest a record 93 billion euros (US$108.2 billion) in France in the coming years, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing President Emmanuel Macron.

The ninth Choose France investment summit took place in Versailles on Monday.

"Only this time, Choose France will attract a record investment of 93 billion euros, which has already been confirmed … Clearly, this is a record amount by a wide margin, and it is a historic event," Macron said, speaking at the event on Monday.

According to him, the funds will be invested in data centres, artificial intelligence development, semiconductors, critical minerals, electrification, transportation, and healthcare.

Almost half of the investment – 45 billion euros – will be provided by Japanese holding company Softbank, Macron noted, adding that in the future, this amount will reach 75 billion euros.
