SEPANG, June 1 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan has described the management of this year’s hajj pilgrimage by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) as highly organised and systematic, further demonstrating that Malaysia has one of the best hajj management systems in the world.
He said this was the result of TH's continuous commitment, which remains at the forefront of global hajj management.
“This is the first time I have been informed by TH that Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Fawzan Al-Rabiah, visited our camp, inspected our preparations and interacted with Malaysian hajj pilgrims.
“In summary, Alhamdulillah, this year’s hajj operations were extremely well-organised, systematic, orderly and meticulous. I congratulate TH for continuing to lead as a global benchmark in hajj management,” he told reporters upon arriving at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 here after performing the hajj.
He also praised the implementation of several new initiatives, including the Green Hajj programme, which has positioned Malaysia among the pioneering countries promoting sustainability during the hajj season.
“Malaysia is ahead of many other countries through efforts to recycle and upcycle ihram garments and other reusable items. We have also implemented cleanliness campaigns in the Masyair areas and pilgrims’ accommodation,” he said.
In addition, he said the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) had helped enhance the quality of services provided to Malaysian hajj pilgrims.
“TH has integrated digital technology and artificial intelligence into its hajj operations, including through the e-TAIB application, which enables pilgrims to obtain information and answers in real time, monitored by guides or syariah reference experts,” he said.
He also highlighted the Labbaitom Award received by TH for the fifth consecutive year, as well as its retention of the Diamond Award for a second consecutive season in the 1447H/2026 hajj season.
The Diamond Award is the highest recognition conferred by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on the world’s best hajj management institutions.
“This is proof that our country has one of the best hajj management systems and serves as a global reference,” he said.
