KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) confirmed that an incident occurred at approximately 12.50 pm yesterday during lifeboat maintenance work at the Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessel Sepat at the Sepat field off Terengganu, in offshore East Coast Peninsular Malaysia.
Four contractor personnel were involved.
“Regrettably, three personnel were pronounced dead upon arrival at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu, at approximately 5.57 pm yesterday, while one injured personnel was evacuated for medical treatment and remains under observation,” it said in a statement today.
Petronas said investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing in coordination with the relevant authorities.
“Petronas extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased. The company’s immediate priority is to support the well-being of those affected,” it said.
