KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed his appreciation to the 49 Community Facilitators in the culinary field of the Community Development Department (KEMAS) who successfully brought home 48 medals at the World Chefs Championship 2026 in Johor Bahru from May 21 to 23.
In a Facebook post, he said the success at the international-level tournament, which brought together participants from more than 40 countries, was an extraordinary achievement that all Malaysians should be proud of.
He also expressed his appreciation to all participants, instructors, coaches and all KEMAS staff who had worked hard and brought honour to the country's name with enthusiasm and dedication.
"What is even more proud is that this success also highlights the local culinary identity to the world level through the creativity and skills possessed by people under KEMAS.
"From traditional cuisine to modern culinary arts, everything was successfully presented with enough excellence to gain international recognition," he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the success proved that the skills training institutions under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) continues to be relevant in producing highly skilled talent who can compete on the global stage.
"I believe that this achievement will make the quality of KEMAS Community Facilitators in the culinary field more highly regarded and attract more young people to see the field of skills as a future path that can go further.
"Continue to create success and make Malaysia famous on the world stage," he said.
