Palestinian Presidency Welcomes Joint Western Leaders Condemnation Of Israeli's Violence

RAMALLAH, May 23 (Bernama-WAFA) -- The Palestinian presidency welcomed a joint statement by the leaders of nine Western countries condemning escalating colonists’ violence and Israeli government policies in the West Bank, while reaffirming the illegality of colonial settlement activity under international law.

According to the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA), the joint statement was issued by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The presidency described the statement as an important step in the right direction and a strong international position in support of international legitimacy, rejecting unilateral Israeli measures that systematically undermine the two-state solution.

It further called for the establishment of serious and effective mechanisms to translate these important positions into concrete steps that would pressure the occupation authorities to halt their measures that violate international legitimacy and international law.
