BEIJING, May 20 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- China has decided to extend the visa-free regime for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday, reported sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"To further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia, China has decided to extend the visa-free regime for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027," Guo told a briefing.

Guo added that Russian citizens holding ordinary foreign passports may enter China without a visa for a period not exceeding 30 days for business, tourism, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, as well as transit.

"The Chinese side is ready to continue working together with the Russian side to enhance the convenience of mutual travel for citizens of the two countries," he said.

China introduced a pilot 30-day visa-free regime for Russians holding ordinary foreign passports for one year starting September 15, 2025.

In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Chinese citizens to enter Russia without visas for up to 30 days based on the principle of reciprocity until September 14, 2026.
