KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has been described as a strategic partner of Malaysian missions abroad in disseminating news of interest to the country, including those related to government policies, bilateral ties and activities involving Malaysia.

Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mohd Adli Abdullah said that since its establishment, Bernama has played an important role as a source of authentic, accurate and authoritative information, not only to the people in the country, but also to the Malaysian community abroad.

“For us at Malaysian missions abroad, Bernama is a strategic partner in disseminating and sharing the latest news of interest to the country,” he told Bernama in conjunction with Bernama's 59th anniversary today.

Mohd Adli said Bernama's professional coverage ensures that Malaysians always get the latest and most accurate information, thus strengthening the sense of togetherness even when they are far away.

The Malaysian Embassy in Astana, he said, had also witnessed the high commitment and professionalism of Bernama representatives, especially during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Kazakhstan in May 2024.

“The comprehensive, fast and integrity-based coverage not only helped explain the importance of the visit and the role of the Malaysian missions abroad to the Malaysian audience, but also further strengthened the country's image on the international stage.

“We greatly appreciate the dedication shown by Bernama throughout the visit,” he said.

Mohd Adli said the same commitment, professionalism and dedication were believed to continue to be demonstrated by Bernama during the official visit of the Kazakhstan President to Malaysia scheduled for July this year.

He said quality coverage would certainly be an important element in supporting efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Kazakhstan.

“In conjunction with its 59th anniversary, I am confident that Bernama will continue to remain a superior and trusted news agency and is able to adapt to current technological developments and the dynamic media landscape,” he said.

Bernama was established under the Bernama Act 1967 and began operations on 20 May 1968 with a news text service, before expanding to photo, radio, television and digital media services.
