JOHOR BAHRU, May 17 (Bernama) -- Johor State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi today said he had not been informed about the alleged special session of the state assembly to dissolve the state assembly on June 24 as reported by the media.
When contacted by Bernama, he said the matter should be confirmed by the Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi himself.
"Ask the Menteri Besar, I haven't asked the Menteri Besar either. Maybe there is an additional budget for Bantuan Kasih Johor for those who have been overlooked," he said briefly via WhatsApp.
Speculation about the special state assembly session linked to the dissolution of the state assembly arose after an invitation to all Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen regarding the session on that date went viral.
Yesterday, Onn Hafiz, who is also the Johor BN chairman, announced via a post on Facebook that BN would contest all 56 state assembly seats in the upcoming state election.
He said the decision was made after taking into account the views of the people of Johor as well as the voices of the grassroots leadership of Johor UMNO and BN on the party's direction ahead of the election.
The Johor State Government's term is scheduled to end in April 2027.
