SHAH ALAM, May 15 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Zakat Board (Zakat Selangor) has published its Integrated Report 2025, which combines financial performance, development outcomes, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects into a comprehensive report, making it one of the earliest zakat institutions in Malaysia to adopt such an approach.

According to Zakat Selangor, the report, which is publicly accessible, not only presents zakat collection and distribution performance, but also provides a broader picture of how zakat funds are managed, monitored and translated into community development.

“Through the report, Zakat Selangor recorded zakat collections amounting to RM1.31 billion in 2025, supported by more than 409,000 zakat payers, while distributions of RM1.33 billion were channelled to over 426,000 recipients throughout Selangor.

“One of the key achievements highlighted is that more than 2,800 asnaf families successfully exited the poor category based on the Had Kifayah assessment, following various development and economic empowerment interventions implemented in 2025,” it said in a statement.

In addition to basic assistance, the report also details various long-term development efforts including education, skills training, entrepreneurship development, job opportunities and income enhancement programmes to help the asnaf build more stable and independent lives.

The report also covers various aspects of institutional management, including governance, audits, distribution monitoring, impact measurement, digitalisation of services and community development.

“This approach is also seen as part of efforts to strengthen zakat institutions through more transparent and comprehensive reporting standards to the public.

“The public can access the full report, including performance, aid impact, governance and ESG initiatives, via www.zakatselangor.com.my/laporan-lzs/,” it said.
