KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at mid-afternoon, supported by gains in YTL-linked counters.
YTL Corp added 21 sen to RM2.30, and YTL Power International gained 22 sen to RM4.16. Both counters lifted the composite index by 7.66 points.
At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.63 per cent, or 10.99 points, to 1,758.42 from Tuesday’s close of 1,747.43.
The benchmark index opened 1.65 points higher at 1,749.08.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 667 to 491. A total of 545 counters were unchanged, 929 untraded, and 10 suspended.
Turnover stood at 2.57 billion units valued at RM2.11 billion.
Among heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare were flat at RM11.20 and RM8.83, respectively.
On the most active list, Zetrix AI and GIIB Holdings edged down half-a-sen each to 86 sen and 18 sen, respectively. Manforce slipped 3.0 sen to 35 sen, and SMRT Holdings inched up 1.5 sen to 19.5 sen.
Among top gainers, Malaysian Pacific Industries surged RM3.70 to RM41.20, Dutch Lady Milk Industries improved 30 sen to RM33.00, Unisem jumped 29 sen to RM3.79, and KESM Industries jumped 22 sen to RM4.67.
As for top losers, Nestle dropped 70 sen to RM101.00, Fraser & Neave Holdings declined 48 sen to RM29.08, Batu Kawan slipped 30 sen to RM21.00, and 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings gave up 10 sen to RM3.38.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index firmed 76.73 points to 12,964.07, the FBM Top 100 Index strengthened 77.52 points to 12,809.14, the FBM Emas Shariah Index edged up 62.99 points to 12,929.54, the FBM Mid 70 Index put on 100.16 points to 18,369.64, and the FBM ACE Index improved 12.04 points to 4,613.11.
By sector, the Industrial Products and Services Index went up 0.82 of-a-point to 198.49, the Financial Services Index leapt 87.83 points to 20,222.16, the Plantation Index tumbled 34.71 points to 8,972.49, and the Energy Index inched down 6.74 points to 828.89.
