UMNO, PH To Maintain Cooperation In Negeri Sembilan Unity Govt

PUTRAJAYA, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council between UMNO and Pakatan Harapan (PH), which met today, reached a consensus to maintain cooperation in the Negeri Sembilan Unity Government in the interest of state stability and the well-being of the people.

PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in a joint statement, said that the council also agreed that any decisions by the Negeri Sembilan state government that could trigger sensitivities or create room for disputes must be promptly referred to the UMNO-PH Leadership Consultative Council.

“The UMNO-PH Leadership Consultative Council respects the positions adopted by both parties’ political bureaus on issues concerning Negeri Sembilan,” they said.

The Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council between UMNO and PH was co-chaired by PH chairman, who is also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Deputy Prime Minister.

Earlier, the meeting, which began at 5.15 pm and lasted about an hour, was also attended by top UMNO and PH leaders, including UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Also present were PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, UMNO vice-presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, as well as UMNO information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
