LUMUT, May 1 (Bernama) -- About 3,000 visitors attended the Lumut Navy City Parade held in conjunction with the 92nd anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) at Dataran Lumut here today.

The event was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, who arrived at 9.00am, accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, and Western Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Baharudin Wan Md Nor.

The parade, held for the first time since Lumut was declared a Naval, Tourism and Maritime Town in 2009, began with a prayer led by Sub-Lieutenant Mohd Soleh Din from the Spiritual Development Centre at the RMN Lumut Base headquarters.

The opening was followed by a cultural performance by the RMN Arts Group, featuring the Seri Dabus Labu Indera dance, reflecting Perak’s traditional Malay heritage.

The celebration continued with a parade involving 21 contingents, including personnel from the RMN, Royal Malaysian Air Force, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Manjung Municipal Council, People's Volunteer Corps, and local youth groups.

A display of maritime assets from the RMN and MMEA was also held, showcasing key vessels such as KD Laksamana Hang Nadim, KD Ledang, KD Kinabalu, KM Gagah, as well as Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) and Fast Combat Boats.

In addition to the parade, the RMN 92nd anniversary celebration, being held from May 1 to 3, features the Armada Open Day 2026 at the Lumut Naval Base jetty, providing visitors with the opportunity to view naval assets up close and gain deeper insight into the navy’s role in safeguarding national maritime security.
