BEIJING, April 30 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The following are the indices of major stock markets worldwide, reported Xinhua.

IN ASIA (Thursday)

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 4,107.30 points, down 0.21 points, or 0.01 per cent.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 15,157.07 points, up 36.15 points, or 0.24 per cent.

The Hang Seng Index opened at 26,008.32 points, down 103.52 points, or 0.40 per cent.

The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 8,677.60 points, down 9.40 points, or 0.11 per cent.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 59,484.71 points, down 432.75 points, or 0.72 per cent.

The Straits Times Index opened at 4,889.26 points, up 28.29 points, or 0.58 per cent.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index opened at 6,739.39 points, up 48.49 points, or 0.72 per cent.

IN THE UNITED STATES (US) (Wednesday)

The S&P 500 Index closed at 7,135.95 points, down 2.85 points, or 0.04 per cent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 48,861.81 points, down 280.12 points, or 0.57 per cent.

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 24,673.24 points, up 9.44 points, or 0.04 per cent.

IN EUROPE (Wednesday)

The DAX Index closed at 23,954.56 points, down 63.70 points, or 0.27 per cent.

The FTSE 100 Index closed at 10,213.11 points, down 119.68 points, or 1.16 per cent.

The Paris CAC 40 closed at 8,072.13 points, down 31.96 points, or 0.39 per cent.
