Philippines Strengthens Fuel Buffer With 178 Mln Litres Of Diesel

27/04/2026 07:28 PM

MANILA, April 27 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The Philippines has strengthened its fuel buffer with the delivery of about 178.33 million litres of diesel, as authorities move to secure domestic supply against continued volatility in global oil markets and tensions in West Asia, the Department of Energy (DOE) said on Monday, reported Xinhua.

The DOE said the completed shipments bolster the country's supply position at a time when international markets remain vulnerable to disruption.

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin stressed that timely fuel arrivals are critical not only for maintaining inventory levels but also for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of key sectors such as transport, logistics, power generation, agriculture and industry.

As the conflict in West Asia continues to evolve, Garin added that the government's priority is to ensure the Philippines remains prepared, adequately supplied and able to respond swiftly to developments that could affect fuel availability and market stability.
