KUALA NERUS, April 26 (Bernama) -- The absence of two key players disrupted Terengganu FC’s (TFC) rhythm in their 2-2 draw with Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) in the Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) last night.
TFC acting head coach Tengku Hazman Raja Hassan said import striker Gervane Kastaneer and midfielder Kway Min Oo had to be substituted off in the closing minutes of the first half due to serious injuries.
He said the absence of the two players altered the team’s rhythm in the second half, allowing the opponents to fight back and level the score at 2-2.
“The absence of Kastaneer and Min Oo had a big impact on our rhythm in the second half. The situation changed when substitutions were made. In the second half, we saw our rhythm clearly affected, and the gaps between players became more apparent.
“Kastaneer’s absence was a major issue because after that (in the second half), we frequently lost possession. Before that, he helped control the game and create chances,” he said after the Super League match against NSFC at SSMZA last night.
TFC’s two goals were scored by Yann Mabella and Raianderson Da Costa (Careca), while Joseph Esso netted both of NSFC’s goals.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan’s head coach K. Rajan praised the fighting spirit shown by his players, which enabled them to secure a valuable point at least.
Despite trailing 0-2 in the first half, the players did not give up and showed full commitment to ensure NSFC did not return empty-handed.
“I have to commend the players for making a comeback in the second half. They returned with 100 per cent commitment and urgency to score.
“The first goal gave the players a boost of motivation to regain their momentum and push for the next goal. Before the second half started, I reminded the players to be more disciplined and stick to the game plan,” he said.
