KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Works (KKR) is enhancing its strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Ombudsman to streamline the management of complaints related to infrastructure projects in Sarawak.
Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the move was initiated by a courtesy visit from a Sarawak Ombudsman delegation to KKR today.
He said the meeting aimed to create understanding and more structured cooperation between the two parties in managing complaints on development projects involving the interests of the people.
"This collaboration will facilitate the two-way coordination of complaints, including the channeling of complaints about federal projects to KKR as well as the referral of issues involving the Sarawak Public Works Department to the Sarawak Ombudsman for review and improvement purposes," he said in a Facebook post.
He said that although it does not act as a judicial body, the Sarawak Ombudsman functions as an independent mediator who supports efforts to improve governance towards a more just, efficient, transparent and effective administrative system for the benefit of the people.
Alexander said he fully supported the move and hoped that the cooperation could continue to be strengthened, especially in streamlining the management of complaints related to infrastructure projects and ensuring that every development initiative could be completed according to plan.
The meeting was attended by KKR deputy secretary-general (management) Datuk Zainal Alhakab Seman, Sarawak Ombudsman chief Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafur Shariff and his delegation.
