Kota Bharu Incident: Elderly Victim Dies, Case Probed Under Section 302

KOTA BHARU, April 22 (Bernama) -- Police have confirmed that an 83-year-old elderly man died after sustaining head injuries in an incident at a residence in Kampung Masjid Baung Bayam here on Monday.

Kelantan police chief Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the incident occurred at 11.30 am when the victim was believed to have suffered the injuries suddenly, without any prior altercation.

He said the victim was taken by family members to a nearby clinic for initial treatment before being referred to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II.

“The victim was placed in the red zone and given emergency treatment, including respiratory assistance, before being admitted to the ward. However, the victim was confirmed dead at 6.30 pm yesterday.

“Post-mortem results found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, which resulted in a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain,” he said in a statement today.

Following that, he said an individual had been detained to assist in the investigation, with the case classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The public is also advised not to speculate or spread unverified information that could affect the investigation,” he added.
