KOTA BHARU, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government today announced a RM2 million People’s Economic Stimulus Package to assist those affected by global economic uncertainty.
Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said the package will benefit farmers and small and medium enterprise (SME) operators, who are among the key contributors to the state’s economy.
He said the assistance will be distributed in a targeted manner, with RM1 million allocated to farmers to strengthen the agro-food sector and RM1 million to SME operators to support business sustainability and growth.
““This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the people while strengthening the state’s economic resilience,” he said in his winding-up speech during the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly sitting at Kota Darulnaim Complex here today.
He added that the mechanism for disbursing the assistance will be finalised soon.
Meanwhile, Mohd Nassuruddin said the state government has agreed to establish a Special Committee on land under the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) to address related issues, including settlers’ land ownership.
He said the matter arose following issues raised by Wan Rohimi Wan Daud (PAS-Melor) during the debate on the royal address, which also led to exchanges with Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani (BN-Nenggiri) and Datuk Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim (BN-Galas).
“The issues related to Kesedar and settlers’ land show that there are still outstanding matters that have yet to be resolved,” he said.
In another development, he stressed that the state government remains committed to practising a mature and constructive federalism approach, including strengthening ties with the Federal government and coordinating development through the State Development Action Council.
