KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from representatives from six pondok institutions under the Digital Transformation of Islamic Education Institutions (IPI) programme.
The pondok institutions are Maahad Tarbiah Islamiah, Derang, Pokok Sena in Kedah; Pusat Pengajian Pondok, Kandis, Bachok in Kelantan; Institut Ahmad Ibni Idris (SAIFI), Rembau, Negeri Sembilan; Pusat Pendidikan Ribath Al-Musthofa, Kuantan, Pahang; Pondok Darul Furqan, Ipoh, Perak; and Maahad Ihya Ulumiddin, Mengkuang Titi, Bukit Mertajam in Penang.
During the meeting held in Putrajaya, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in pondok institutions to explore new areas while maintaining the tradition of turath al-Islami, adding that mastery of digital skills, particularly artificial intelligence, is increasingly important in facing current challenges.
“This effort will hopefully build a strong foundation for the future of Islamic education in the region,” he said in a Facebook post.
The pilot programme is an initiative by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
