20/04/2026 03:27 PM

MUAR, April 20 (Bernama) -- The strong performance of the ringgit, which has put it as Asia’s best-performing currency for two consecutive years, is an achievement that should be a source of national pride, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, said the performance reflects the country’s solid economic fundamentals.

He noted the ringgit is currently trading at around RM3.95 against the US dollar and RM3.10 against the Singapore dollar, underscoring its resilience compared with regional peers.

“This is a strong achievement. Over the past two years, the ringgit has been among the best-performing currencies in Asia. That’s the reality.

“Such recognition of Malaysia’s efforts should be a point of pride for all, regardless of political differences,” he told reporters after attending the Safe Internet Campaign at Tun Syed Nasir Syed Ismail Polytechnic here today.

Also present were the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) managing director Abdul Karim Fakir Ali and chief of state affairs Bukhari Yahya.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier highlighted the ringgit’s performance, saying it reflects solid economic growth supported by increased investment and improving global market confidence.
